Discussion:
An inpatient Inventory runs high to tablets, capsules, pre-filled syringes and single dose vials. In order for Ascend to correctly manage Inventory Quantity on Hand for these items, each item has to have the attribute named 'Dispense as Whole Units' checked on the Inventory General tab.

For a multi-dose vial, which can be replaced on the shelf after a portion of its contents is dispensed, 'Dispense as Whole Units' should NOT be checked.
Options 2862 Make Triplicate a Required Field.

Go to Utilities / Options / Order Entry tab.
In the section for Outpatient Required Fields, scroll down, and check Triplicate.

Required Fields

That will cause the Triplicate field in the order entry screen to be required, and the field will have a background color indicating it is required.
Order 1444 When using Refill or Copy to create a new order, Ascend will no longer copy the Triplicate Number.
Order 2580 Option to Prevent Narcotic Orders if Order MD missing DEA info or Restricted.

Under Utilities / Options / Order Entry tab, there is a new checkbox on the bottom right hand side, 'Ordering Dr must have current license' .

If an order is entered with a prescribing doctor whose license has expired, the following error message shows up:

"The prescribing doctor's license is not current and must be updated before you can enter prescriptions by this doctor."

If an order is entered with a prescribing doctor who has a DEA Code limit which is restricted, an error will show:

"DRUG XYZ has a DEA Code of 3 and the prescribing doctor can only prescribe items with a DEA Code of 4 and higher." or
"DRUG XYZ has a DEA Code of 3 and the prescribing doctor cannot prescribe any narcotic orders."
Order 2649 Remember Order Doctor when entering a Series or Set of New Orders

If you enter a new order and change the Order Doctor, click the New Order button, the system will go through it's clinical checks, charging and printing for the first order, then bring up the Order Item Selection screen for the next order.  Once you choose your ingredient(s), the Order Screen will have retained the Order Doctor from the previous order.
Order 2794 Outpatient Order now displays the Triplicate Number on the General Tab.  It is located near the bottom of the form, just above the buttons.
Order 2857 New Outpatient Order - Qty Authorized Field will be blank.  In prior versions, it was 0.
Order 2895 Add Admission drop down on Orders / Other tab.

This will allow you to change the Admission that an order is linked to.

If a patient has many admissions, it's possible for an order to be entered for a prior admission by mistake.

If it's necessary to move the order to a different admission, open the order, then go to the Other tab.

There is an Admission drop down list where you can select a different Admission.  If you click the OK button, the order will then be linked to the admission you chose.

Update 2695 New Menu To Perform Server Update, under Utilities / Updates.

This item should be accessed only if you are working directly with a Hann's On Software representative.
Update 2829 Delete First DataBank files from the Update folder after each Server Update.

The First DataBank files get unpacked from the Server Update file, update.exe.   They get inserted into your database if a First DataBank update is needed.  This could be during a program update, or a First DataBank only update.

Once inserted into the database, the files themselves are no longer accessed by the Ascend program.

In prior versions, they remained in the Update folder.

Now, all the First DataBank files will be removed from the Update folder after a successful update.

The First Databank files have filenames that are all in capital letters and all start with an R and have underscores in them, for example,
RDDIMIN0_NDC_INACTV_DDIM_LINK.
Update 2834 Server Update: Post new messages immediately.

The following messages will appear after starting a server update:

Preparing to update.....
Opening a connection to the database....

When running the server update from a remote workstation, there may be a delay before the update actually begins.

These new messages are meant to confirm to the user that the update process has actually begun.

Here is how the messages will look on the screen and in the Update Log.txt file, with the date and time of the update present.

02-16-2009 09:22:46 Preparing to update......
02-16-2009 09:22:46 Opening a connection to the database......
